Ms. Sattler obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1993 and has been practicing plaintiff personal injury litigation since that time. Ms. Sattler started off as an associate at Martin Clearwater & Bell, one of New York’s preeminent medical malpractice defense firms. While at that firm, she defended doctors, hospitals and other medical professionals against claims of negligence and medical malpractice. Thereafter, Ms. Sattler worked for the well-known plaintiff personal injury firm, Dinkes & Morelli (later known as Morelli Ratner) for many years where she vigorously represented injured Plaintiffs in all aspects of litigation.
In the early 2000s, Ms. Sattler began working for various personal injury firms in the role of trial counsel. She was also in charge of the medical malpractice cases and automobile trials at Ebanks & Sattler, and also began litigating automobile and malpractice cases for Harmon, Linder & Rogowsky (another well-known New York personal injury law firm.) While working at those firms, Ms. Sattler tried well over a hundred cases, many of them to verdict. Ms. Sattler has a keen understanding of the law in this specialized field as well as the medical knowledge to successfully prosecute these cases. She has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for her clients that far exceeded expectations. During one of her trials, the jury was following her cross examination of a doctor so closely that one of the jurors actually commented aloud to one of her questions which was made part of the transcript and said in sum and substance “yeah, how are you going to get out of this one.” The judge had to instruct that juror not to agree or disagree with either side while testimony was ongoing. Ms. Sattler routinely engages the most highly qualified experts in order to properly support her client’s claims and puts the necessary pressure on the defendants to obtain the best results. When litigating automobile cases, Ms. Sattler is known for ensuring through tough litigation tactics, that her clients are fairly compensated for their injuries despite the insurance companies’ claims that her clients were not “seriously” injured. She is very well-versed in the New York Threshold law and is very well-respected by her adversaries for her trial techniques.
Ms. Sattler is also in charge of the firm’s e-cigarette litigation where she is fighting for the firm’s clients against various companies including JUUL and Altria. These lawsuits involve claims that those companies marketed and sold products which targeted young adults and teens and delivered high doses of nicotine without properly warning potential users about the dangers of JUUL including addiction, pulmonary injuries and other serious and harmful health issues. The claims also include negligence in the manufacture, labeling, and promotion of its highly addictive products.
Ms. Sattler is admitted to the New York State Bar. She is also admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and before the United States Supreme Court. She is also a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
